As the school year starts, the sounds of a school band bounce from the end zones up toward the stands to help define the moments of the game. They are the star performers at local parades ... marching in precise patterns among the family-filled streets of small towns. Filled with spirit and pride, they play for their families and friends at seasonal concerts at area schools.

Many students from different homes, all coming together to celebrate the sweet sounds of collaboration, effort and dedication to an art they share with all whom listen. The High School Band consists of 88 members and the 8th grade band incorporates 68 members for the 2011-12 academic year.

The Brookhaven School District embraces and nurtures its superior-rated band program. The bands within our district regularly receive Superior ratings at competition. There are three band groups throughout Brookhaven School District - Lipsey School (5th & 6th), Alexander Junior High (7th & 8th) and Brookhaven High School.

MEET THE PANTHER BAND Rehearsal & Cookout August 7th at 6 p.m. at the BHS Band Practice Field. This is an annual exhibition for parents & friends followed by a cookout hosted by the Band Booster Club.

At this function, family will be able to sign up for 1) membership in the Booster Club ($25 per family); working times in the Concession Stands during the home high school and junior high ballgames and chaperoning for the away ball games, contests and festivals.
