The Mississippi Department of Education recently assigned Alexander Junior High the label of a "High Progress School" for making positive improvements in student performance.

The Forensics class at BHS will present a fascinating, historic tour through the local cemetery as a fundraiser for team activities. The project is as much story telling as it is a history lesson. Students have been assigned names of notable residents from Brookhaven. They wrote a short piece about the lives and accomplishments of these residents. Taking on a role as the actual person, students will stand by their grave and share their life story with onlookers.
An external review team visited the Brookhaven School District for almost 3 days to closely evaluate the school district and its practices.

Madison School District recently visited our schools to see the Academy of Reading and Math in action. The visitors are considering implementing the intervention program into their district. BES, Lipsey and AJH all utilize the Academy and have seen successful growth in students who complete the lessons. (Pictured below is the AJH Academy lab with visiting Madison officials)
Thank you so much! I can’t put into words how honored I am for this recognition. I absolutely love being a part of the Brookhaven School District and I could not do the job I have done thus far without the support of all the faculty and staff at Brookhaven Technical Center, who have been so supportive since I started with BSD.
The Move & Learn program was introduced to 5th and 6th graders, teachers and administrators on February 12th at Lipsey School.
BHS Boys, Girls Basketball teams advance to fight for District Championship; game Friday night in McComb
The Brookhaven High School Girls beat Pearl 36-34 Tuesday night while the Boys team won 50-45. Both teams will play in McComb Friday night for the District Championship.
Girls play at 6 pm and Boys play at 7:30 pm.

Congratulations to BeJay Robinson and Zach Smith - Panthers who both signed scholarships to play college football. Robinson (pictured left) will play for Pearl River Community College and Smith will play at Copiah Lincoln Community College. (Also in photo, BHS Head Football Coach Tommy Clopton)
Justin Blue (pictured below, left) and Jaboree Poole (below right) signed football scholarships with colleges the week of Feb. 4th ... Blue signing with Southwest Mississippi Community College and Jaboree Poole with University of Southern Mississippi. Congratulations to these atheletes!
